Lo Sziget Festival è un grande festival musicale che si svolge sull’isola Óbudai-sziget a Budapest, in Ungheria. Nato nel 1993 come rassegna per gruppi locali, nel corso degli anni ha ampliato e perfezionato il proprio cast artistico. Oggi è considerato uno dei festival con il maggior numero di presenze al mondo, grazie anche alla sua durata: a differenza della maggior parte degli eventi musicali, lo Sziget si estende per un’intera settimana, solitamente nella seconda metà di agosto.
Con oltre 60 palchi attivi, lo Sziget non è solo musica dal vivo, ma anche DJ set, spettacoli teatrali, proiezioni cinematografiche, danza, esibizioni circensi, performance di artisti di strada e attività sportive. È un evento unico nel suo genere, multidisciplinare e inclusivo, che celebra ogni forma di espressione artistica e musicale. Punto d’incontro tra culture e tendenze diverse, ospita generi che spaziano dal pop al rock, metal, hip hop, blues, reggae, afrobeat, world music, folk, elettronica, jazz, musica classica e ogni tipo di sperimentazione sonora.

The Sziget Festival is a major music event held on the Óbudai-sziget island in Budapest, Hungary. Launched in 1993 as a showcase for local bands, it has grown year after year, improving its artistic lineup. Today, it stands among the world’s most attended festivals, partly due to its extended duration—unlike most music festivals, Sziget lasts a full week, typically in mid-August.
Featuring over 60 stages, Sziget offers much more than just live music: DJ sets, theatrical performances, film screenings, dance, circus acts, street art, and sports events are all part of the program. It is a one-of-a-kind event, multidisciplinary and inclusive, open to every artistic and musical expression. A crossroads of cultures and trends, it embraces genres from pop, rock, metal, hip hop, blues, reggae, afrobeat, world music, folk, electronic, jazz, classical music, and all kinds of sonic experimentation.
